Yes, you have to wash the diapers but two packages of cloth diapers (2 dozen) cost less than one package of disposable diapers; You'll save over $1000 during the time your baby is in diapers. There are generally fewer incidences of diaper rash from cloth diapers. The new cloth diapers are nearly as easy to use as disposables (Velcro or snaps; diaper liners, etc.). You don't have to go to the store as often. You probably will only wash, at most, a couple of extra loads a week (and probably not even that much). Yes, you will probably have to rinse the poop down the toilet, but that's not even that hard. You can control what chemicals your baby is exposed to by choosing what detergent, fabric softener, etc. to use. You don't have that option with disposables. Also, cloth diapers are environmentally friendly, don't take up landfill space and can be driedﾂusing solar dryers (clotheslines).
